During the first quarter of 2023, the top navigation and maps apps on iOS in Ghana exhibited varied performance trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a detailed look at how these apps fared, based on Sensor Tower data.

Google Maps had a consistent presence in the market with weekly downloads ranging between 3.9K and 4.8K. The app saw its highest downloads in the week of January 9 with approximately 4.8K downloads. Active users fluctuated slightly, peaking at around 145K in the week of January 23, before settling at approximately 135K by the end of March.

GhanaPostGPS also maintained steady performance. Weekly downloads varied from around 683 to 1.2K, with the highest downloads occurring in the week of January 9. Active user numbers remained relatively stable, fluctuating slightly around 17K throughout the quarter.

GPS Live Navigation saw modest download numbers, ranging from 270 to 398 weekly downloads. The app’s active user base showed a gradual increase, starting from approximately 2.2K at the beginning of January and reaching around 2.6K by the end of March.

Yango Maps, which was released in February 2023, experienced a significant rise in downloads, starting from 15 downloads in its release week and reaching a peak of around 613 downloads in the week of February 20. The app continued to attract new users with weekly downloads stabilizing between 449 and 553 from mid-March onwards.

The app’s active users peaked at approximately 665 in mid-February before experiencing a gradual decline to around 474 by the end of March.
